Nurture Community Services acknowledges the traditional owners of the land on which we live, work and play. We pay our respects to the Jagera and Turrbal people of the greater Brisbane region - west to the great dividing range and north to Moreton Bay, and the Yugambeh people south of Brisbane in the Logan and Gold coast regions. We pay our respects to elders past, present and emerging.
WHO WE ARE AND WHAT WE DO
Nurture is an independent community organisation providing flexible, bespoke and holistic support to the community. We are inclusive and our services are open to all, however with our trauma focused approach, we specialise in supporting marginalised, at risk and neurodivergent young people, aged 12-25. We offer a range of programs, workshops and support services for individuals or groups, and pride ourselves in our relational approach.
Our team is experienced working across counselling and social work, out of home care, youth justice and the refugee sector. We draw on all of our experiences to develop a range of trauma focused supports and resources for the communities we work with.

YOUTH ENGAGEMENT
At Nurture, we offer tailored support to meet individual needs. With a focus on psycho-social needs, we support young people to develop independence, create connections with their communities and work on social skills. We use fun and exploration to challenge, expand schemas and nurture growth in young people.
WHAT ELSE DO WE DO?
Being holistic in our approach means we also work towards stregnthening the community as a whole.

COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT
At Nurture, we believe that a strong, conencted and informed community benefits everyone. Engaging with community and partnering with other groups and organisations, helps us understand the needs of the community and think of inovative ways to meet and address the underlying issues.
We actively participate in events, festivals, research or workshops that benefit the community.

TRAINING & SUPPORT
We're fortunate to have some very experienced individuals in our team, who are able to share their knowledge through the delivery of a range of workshops and training. From community upskilling to professional development, our training calendar is varied and has something for everyone. Look out for updates.
A BIT ABOUT US
Driven by passion, guided by experience
Nurture is headed up by our Director Vere Lambert-Morris, who has over 18 years experience working in both the UK and Australia with marginalised youth in the justice and out-of-home care systems, as well as adults with disabilities.  He started Nurture to address the lack of creativity in trauma focused service delivery and provide an individualised and flexible support option to all marginalised groups.Â
Currently completing a PhD in Criminology and Criminal Justice at Griffith University, Vere has experience teaching undergraduates, delivering professional development for the Queensland Police Service, and as a researcher on projects covering issues such as young driver attitudes and the needs of indigenous prisoners with disabilities. Behind Vere is a small, hand picked team of similarly experienced and passionate individuals from the fields of social work, psychology and education. The shared objective is to support marginalised communities and those working with them, through a relational and trauma focused approach.

MEANJIN REGGAE FESTIVAL 2023
On November 18th we took part in this growing Brisbane festival for the 3rd year. This year we teamed up with Brisbane street artist Reuben Zachary to bring live Graffiti demonstration and a community messgae wall. We were amazed at how well people took to it. A massive thanks to everyone who stopped by. Here are some of the pictures from the day. Check our Instagram to see more.

ENGAGE PROGRAM AVAILABILITY
We currently have space for one-on-one tailored support. Specialising in psycho-social needs of youth, we work with clients from a range of backgrounds and are registered to provide services through the NDIS. We are very flexible in terms of what we can do, and tailor our activities and engagement to meet individual needs and interests.
